Target Audience Research
The target audience of many thriller films are around 18+
this is as many thrillers contain scenes that are seen as disturbing for many
younger viewers and also they contain a lot of severe violence and sex scenes. Also because mainly people aged 18-25 are
drawn into these films because of their big storylines and graphic action
scenes which is a common feature of the thriller genre.
However the Sub-genres of thrillers (e.g. crime thriller and
action thriller) usually attract attention for people aged around 15 – 30.
Usually on DVD’s you would spot this on the back cover
stating the age of which it is rated. Shops are illegally allowed to sell the
DVD’s to anyone under the appropriate age.
Our Target Audience
The target audience we are making are thriller film for is
going to be a 15+ for both males and females who enjoy watching thrillers. It
will be rated at a 15 because it will contain moderate use of violence, super
natural occurrences and mild language. Also it will contain elements of
mystery.
However it would not be rated as an 18+ film because it is
not overly explicit in its content.
