Credits and Title Analysis- Maddie Quirke

Credits and Titles
The font used for a film and credits is important as it should blend seamlessly with the theme, genre and narrative of the film. To create our own font we looked at similar media products to draw inspiration and re-create something special.

PARANORMAL ACTIVITY:

The text is very simple but effective. The font has the typical horror look  which creates a scary looking effect. The text is in red which shows the connotations of blood, death and vengeance, aswell as supernatural connotations therefore implying that all these things can happen in the film.
The text is also very clear and concise making it easier for the audience to read. The font is in capital letters suggesting  that it's being shouted and creating an ominous and supernatural effect.
'What happens when you sleep?' is effective as it makes the situation to the audience more relatable, therefore enhancing the ominous effect.

YOU'RE NEXT:

The text is plain white in bold capitals, this is a very simple title but used on a detailed background making it more effective. There is also a red stain on and around the text which is clearly blood, this implies that the film may involve violence and gor which lets us know that something bad is going to happen.
We can straight away identify from both the text and image that the film is a horror which creates a frightening atmosphere. Apart from the text, the overall image is very drak, creating a sense of twisted evil and enhances a dark mood to the film. Using little text is effective as it doesn't give too much away, leaving people in suspense and wanting to go watch the film.

THE DARK KNIGHT:
The title of the film is written in small but clear capital letters, in a white font making it stand out on the dark background. It is infront of the batman logo insinuating that batman is 'the dark night'. This leaves you in suspence, creating a  mystery to why he is 'the dark knight', therefore making you want to watch the film more.
The text also looks strong and masculine, maybe creating a certain target audience. Both the text and image enhance an action and thrilling atmosphere that the film is going to provide the audience.
